Star Culture in Los Angeles

Star Culture in Los Angeles

The home of Hollywood is popular for film enthusiasts who travel to the City of Angels to walk in the footsteps of legends and tour the studios where unforgettable films have been made. Hollywood sightseeing tours are a great starting point for tourists who are unfamiliar with the city and would like to take in all of the available sights, from Sony Pictures Studios, to Universal Studios, to Disneyland and the Getty Museum. Here’s a sneak preview of Hollywood for first-time visitors:

One of the first stops and certainly the best-known is Hollywood Boulevard, which is on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame. This pavement is home to 2,400 pink and gold stars which serve as monuments of public achievement to those who have excelled in the entertainment industry. Some of the more unusual additions include the animated ogre, Shrek, and the Muppets.

Not far along Hollywood Boulevard is Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, which was opened in 1922 and is still a prime location for many glittering premieres, award parties, birthday bashes and other ceremonies. Visitors will recognise the concrete blocks in the forecourt which bear signatures and handprints of movie personalities dating from the 1920s up until today.

Universal Studios’ tours offer once-in-a-lifetime glimpses into what is boasted to be the world’s largest movie studio and theme park, where visitors can enjoy watching movies on hi-tech screens and go on thrilling rides such as Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride, The Simpsons Ride and take a meander through Universal’s Jurassic Park. There’s also a tour through operational movie sets and special effects stages, including Cyberdyne Technologies, where terminator robots are on show, and be sure not to miss the Blues Brothers Show for a toe-tapping treat.

One way to get to know the city is by booking a bus tour. Locations include the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Glendale and Burbank, during which you can get a feel for the hotspots and enjoy a stopover at the renowned Farmer’s Market, where some of the most delicious food is on sale from more than 100 vendors. For those who prefer a healthier, more intimate perspective, take a bike or walking tour, and pass numerous celebrities’ homes in Venice, Santa Monica and Marina Del Rey.

Enjoy the colourful, character-filled neighbourhoods of Los Angeles, and tour the historic museums, studios and shops that have made the City of Angeles one of the prime holidays destinations in the world. Book an affordable flight to Los Angeles by comparing airlines flying on your chosen dates. Visit the home of Hollywood to get a taste of star culture.
