How to Build a Recording Studio

How to Build a Recording Studio

Whether you are creating a recording studio at home or in another location, the goals of reducing sound transmission and enhancing acoustical quality remain the same. A recording studio refers to a room where you intend to practice a musical instrument or record music, and the recommended soundproofing treatments differ from those recommended for a room where a band practices. Building a recording studio involves the steps of containing noise within the room, blocking outside noise from entering the room and finally enhancing the acoustics within the room for optimal sound quality.

Like many types of soundproofing projects, the first phase in developing a recording studio involves isolating the room by preventing sound transmission through the walls and ceilings of the room, to prevent both outside noise from bleeding into the room and sound from inside the studio from being transmitted out. Wall sound reduction treatments can be incorporated into the construction phase of a room, or may be easily applied in rooms with existing walls. The key to effective wall soundproofing is establishing a disconnection from the wall surface and increasing the density of the structure. Common studs in adjoining rooms allow sound waves to travel freely between rooms, which is what will be negated through the establishment a separated, denser structure.

Adding density to a wall simply involves covering the surface with a mass loaded vinyl soundproofing membrane, such as dB-Bloc. The added density will restrain the wall’s ability to vibrate, thus inhibiting its tendency to transmit sound into and out of the studio. Secondly, a disconnection from the walls must be established to prevent sound waves from being transmitted easily through the walls to adjoining rooms and beyond. Creating such a disconnection involves first attaching horizontal furring strips to the wall in regular intervals from ceiling to floor, about sixteen inches apart as a general recommendation. Next a new layer of drywall will be affixed to the strips, essentially creating a second wall layer. The technique of increasing density and establishing a disconnection serves to reduce or eliminate sound transmission through the walls of the studio. Ceilings also provide a common surface for sound transmission throughout different rooms of a home or building. Ceiling soundproofing treatments are available in a variety of styles, and a soundproofing professional can recommend the appropriate ceiling treatment that is sufficient for the unique characteristics of your studio.

Obtaining optimal acoustical quality within a recording studio is the ultimate goal. Thus, a studio should also be treated to reduce sound reflections within the room in order to improve acoustical quality in the studio. Sound absorption panels are easily installed solutions that are designed to be positioned throughout the room to capture sound and reduce reverberations. Again, it is

Mobile Phone Voice Recording Solution – Voiceguard

Mobile Phone Voice Recording Solution - Voiceguard
It is believed that 80% of all business deals get discussed on the phone even before the first word is typed on email or paper, and now the various regulators seem to be understanding this aspect. Imagine you are talking on your mobile phone with a client or business partner and discussing a business transaction or financial deal. You and company's leaders will ideally want to be able to record a copy of the discussion for future reference between the two parties. This need has been there for long, but its not convenient to do all discussions by joining a telecon bridge just to get voice recording functionality.

Today, the case for mobile voice recording has become stronger because the regulators also want you to archive phone conversations. In the recent years, the regulations for recording and archiving all digital communications have become stringent. With the recording and archiving capabilities for fixed-line calls, emails and IMs in place, the recording of mobile phone calls is the logical next step.

VoiceGuard is a new solution that enables you to record and archive call conversations and voicemails from your company-sponsored mobile phones, thereby helping you achieve your compliance and risk management objectives, while supporting your mobility.

It is a fact that corporate mobile phone costs often include a high percentage of personal usage by employees, because most people use just one mobile phone for both business and personal works. Recording employee calls as a business practice ensures better adherence to company policy regarding private business conversations and personal usage of company mobile phones. With VoiceGuard, all phone calls can be quickly recorded, retrieved and replayed to protect your business operations from the potential of misunderstandings or misrepresentations in future.

Following is a summary of the key features of VoiceGuard:
* Mobile call recording and archiving
* Support for all major Smartphones
* Sophisticated administrative console
* Audit Log Files
* Comprehensive Reporting
* Voice call storage

VoiceGuard comes with its own hosted call recorder for those companies that do not currently have their own voice recording capabilities in house, and VoiceGuard can be rapidly integrated with existing recording infrastructure.

Homes With Recording Studios

Homes With Recording Studios

Los Angeles is the home for celebrities of all media types. Many of these celebrities are into music, radio, or voice work. As costs have grown to record CDs, tapes, and the like, many of these celebrities have decided they'd rather create from home, rather than paying expensive hourly rates to someone else.

This isn't a new concept. Anyone who saw the Barbra Streisand movie A Star Is Born back in the late 70's knows that there were early homes that had recording studios within the home. What has changed is technology that allows some of these celebrities to keep the size of a recording studio down, while still retaining the acoustics and sound purity that it takes to make a professional recording.

The thing that starts home recording studios in today's world is the sound. These homes need to do a few things. One, they need to contain the sound within its environment as much as possible so that it doesn't bother anyone else. Two, it needs to be able to reflect certain sounds back, creating a partial "live" sound that people love to hear in their music. And three, it needs to be able to bar any outside sounds from bleeding into the room so that it doesn't mess up the recordings.

After that, the next thing these owners have to decide is just what the purpose of their home recording studio is for. If they're mixing CDs or music, they might need more equipment and electronics than someone who creates books on tape, or even someone who does radio programs from their home, which many top radio hosts do nowadays. The more equipment needed the more space that's needed to contain all of that equipment.

Many top musicians living in the Los Angeles County area have recording studios in their homes. We would expect people like Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones to have them. Ray Charles had one in his house to practice with, though he also owned an offsite studio where he recorded most of his work, since he liked to record with a live band.

However, nowadays celebrities who are known for things other than music are starting to either build recording studios or buy houses that have them. Some are selling them also, such as Keifer Sutherland, who converted his loft into a recording studio for his own record label, Ironworks. Other celebrities whom you might not have thought about having home recording studios include Natalie Portman and Paris Hilton.

Of course, the majority of stars that have them are music stars, including Miley Cyrus, who's father Billy Ray had one built in their home on her 16th birthday. Both Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have recording studios in their homes, as well as Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. The musician Moby bought an entire mansion so he could turn the whole guesthouse into a large home recording studio.

However, people other than stars have built smaller recording studios in their homes, and there are plenty of these homes on the market for anyone looking to buy a

Choosing a Recording Studio for Your Project

Choosing a Recording Studio for Your Project

Choosing a recording studio for your project is not merely a matter of looking for the studio that offers the lowest hourly rates. As an artist, you have to find a studio that will give you the perfect balance between affordability and sound quality.

So how should you go about choosing a recording studio for your project?

One of the first things you should do is to look up the nearest studios and compare the following factors:

· Equipment – They do not need to have every single kind of recording equipment in the world since you'll only need the basics in most cases. However, make sure that those that they have will produce release-quality recordings.

· Sound engineers – Find out the level of experience of their sound engineers. Remember, even the best equipment will just go to waste if your sound engineer is no good. An experienced sound engineer will be able to help you produce the best possible recording, as well as save you time since they know what they're doing. Of course, this will help lower costs, especially if you are paying the studio on hourly rates.

· Size – Obviously, you should find out a studio that will be able to accommodate everyone that needs to be there. Try as you may you just won't be able to fit in an entire orchestra in a small room. Just make sure you don't rent too big a studio as well to avoid wasting money.

While doing research, you might have missed some recording studios that is worth considering, so make sure you ask for recommendations from fellow downtown artists. Artists that play Soho should be able to give you feedback on the studios they've used in the area.

Once you have narrowed it down to a handful of promising studios, visit each studio to get a feel of the place. Do not settle for a studio that you do not feel comfortable in because it will affect your creativity and productivity level.

Cher Tickets : Cher Subsequently Established Herself As A Solo Recording Artist
Cher is an American recording artist, actress, director, and record producer. Referred to as the Goddess of Pop,she has won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, three Golden Globes and a Cannes Film Festival Award for her work in film, music and television.

Cher began her career as a backup singer and later came to prominence as one half of the pop rock duo Sonny & Cher with the success of their song "I Got You Babe" in 1965. She subsequently established herself as a solo recording artist, and became a television star in 1971 with The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, a variety show for which she won a Golden Globe.

A well received performance in the film Silkwood earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1984. In the following years, Cher starred in a string of hit films including Mask, The Witches of Eastwick, and Moonstruck, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988.

Cher is the only female solo artist to reach the number one on the Billboard charts in each of the previous six decades .Her hit dance single "Believe" is her biggest-selling recording and was the best-selling single of 1999,having sold over 10 million copies worldwide. She holds the Hot 100 record for the longest hit-making career span, with 33 years between the release of her first and most recent #1 singles, in 1965 and 1999.

Cher ended her 3-year-long "Farewell Tour" in 2005 as the most successful tour by a female solo artist of all time.With a career lasting over 45 years, Cher has sold over 100 million records worldwide. After a three-year hiatus and retirement from touring, Cher returned to the stage in 2008 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas where she is currently performing her show Cher at the Colosseum.

Cher began performing again in February 2009. She had to delay the last of her 2008 shows due to illness; she claimed to have "Vegas throat". Cher combined her acting and singing skills in the 2010 film Burlesque, a contemporary musical in which she starred alongside Christina Aguilera. She will also provide the voice of a lion (formerly a giraffe) in Kevin James' 2011 film The Zookeeper.

On April 18, 2010, Cher made a surprise appearance on The 45th Annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. She was introduced by 12-time host Reba McEntire. She said the very first song she learned was "Hey Good Lookin'".

In addition to her return to the big screen in 'Burlesque', Cher also recorded two new songs for the film, 'Welcome to Burlesque' and 'You Haven't Seen the Last of Me'. The latter of the two has had success in the Club scene, peaking at the #1 spot on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart. This fact gives Cher the title of only female singer with #1 in every decade since 60's at Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs.

Cher has also announced that she is currently recording a new rock album to be released in 2011,
