It is common to hear women express that they can't accept an invitation to play golf because they are not good enough. Here, I'd say that it doesn't matter. You can enjoy the game with score over 120.  You can follow the advices to accept golf invitation. You can do it as men.

 

Avoid Tournaments Where You Must Play & Count Every Stroke

During the early stages of learning the game, it just doesn't make sense to be a stickler about rules – like counting every whiff and playing every bungled shot. So steer clear of these easily-avoided situations! Instead, look for tournaments with a scramble or best-ball format. Four-player team scrambles are very popular at corporate and charity golf events.

 

Play in Your Comfort Zone

It's okay to feel like a beginner and announce it up front. Actually, it's even better to describe yourself as an educated beginner. If on the course you have trouble keeping up with your golfing partners, be prepared to pick up your ball. Simply put it in your pocket and announce you will tee it up on the next hole. This is perfectly acceptable in casual golf games. If you are not finishing the hole, make yourself valuable by tending the flagstick when you get to the green.

 

Here's how a scramble works. Each foursome usually has players of varying abilities. Each player in the foursome tees off, and then everyone hits again from the spot where the best of the team's tee shots landed (that's often the shot of one of the strongest players in your team). This is repeated down the fairway until all four balls are on the green, and then until one gets in the hole. (You only count your team's best shots from the tee into the cup.) If you are a good driver, like Callaway X-24 Iron Set, you can end up as the star of your team, even if you miss fairway and tee shots.

Women have been trying for years to be viewed as equal competition for men, especially in sports. Unfortunately, society fails to measure women's abilities on the same scale as men's abilities. Golf is one of few sports that show great potential for women and men to compete on the same level. Recently, there have been many developments in the world of women's golf(discount golf ).

Women's golf has been become extremely popular over the past few years and there are currently as many professional women golfers as there are men. It was not until earlier this year, that women's golf took a leaping step in the right direction when professional golfer and top LPGA player, Annika Sorenstam was told she could play against the men in a PGA tournament. Many people predicted how they thought Sorenstam would do when she teed-off against some of the best male golfers in the world. Some people had positive encouragement to contribute while others were chauvinistic and down-right rude.

Phil Mickelson, 2nd in the overall moneymaking standings last year, had no problem playing against a woman and claimed that he thought Sorenstam would end up 20th overall, when she predicted herself to be 28th. Other golf professionals were not so eager to give Sorenstam the benefit of the doubt. Vijah Singh actually resigned from the tournament because he felt he could not play with a women. He claimed that Sorenstam simply "did not belong" in a men's tournament.

Finding Local Golf Courses

There's at least one public golf course in most American cities and many have more than one. If you are fortunate enough to live in Southern California, you'll more likely than not find dozens of municipal golf course facilities within a relatively short driving distance of where you live.

Thanks to Internet technology, it's easier than ever to find public golf courses that meet your needs. In addition, there is a wealth of information about each individual public golf course that you can find on any computer with a reliable Internet connection. A simple online search will reveal public golf course information such as the number of holes, the topography and what hazards are in play and of course, tee times. Like their private and exclusive counterparts, public golf courses have scheduled start times, or golf tee times, that permit numerous people to use golf courses at the same time without getting in each others' way. (It's also important to keep up the pace so that those behind you don't interfere with your game.)

When To Tee Off

You have some real flexibility here. And while public golf courses are always less expensive to play at than private facilities, they're even cheaper when you can book some off-peak times, such as weekday mornings. A tee time scheduled at any golf course on the weekend is naturally going to cost more than one scheduled during the week that's a simple function of supply and demand so in order to get the best deal on playing at a public golf course, be sure and look for a tee time that is not during a period of peak demand.
